# Set Up Your BreakPoint Account, Team, and Locations

> Create your BreakPoint organization, configure your first location, and invite team members so your supervisors can access the Console.

Before your team can start using wearables, someone needs to lay the organizational groundwork in the Console — creating your company's workspace, defining where your people work, and making sure the right supervisors and safety managers have the right level of access. This guide walks you through every step of that initial setup, from the moment you activate your account through to having your first site configured and your first teammate invited. The whole process typically takes under 20 minutes, and you only need to do it once.

<Note>
  BreakPoint will send a verification email to the address you used during signup. You must confirm your email before you can invite team members or pair devices. Check your spam folder if the message doesn't arrive within a few minutes.
</Note>

## Initial Setup Flow

<Steps>
  ### Create Your Organization

  When you first log in to the Console, you are prompted to create your organization — the top-level workspace that all of your sites, workers, devices, and reports live under.

  1. Enter your **Organization Name** exactly as you want it to appear in reports and exported documents (e.g., *Meridian Construction Group*).
  2. Select your **Industry Type** from the dropdown. BreakPoint uses this to pre-populate sensible defaults for proximity alert distances, heart-rate thresholds, and overtime rules that match your sector's regulatory norms. You can adjust every default later.
  3. Choose your **Primary Location** — the city or region where your headquarters or main operations site is based. This sets the default map center for the Console.
  4. Click **Create Organization**. Your organization workspace is now active.

  ### Configure Your First Work Location

  A *location* in BreakPoint represents a physical site where workers are deployed — a construction site, a warehouse floor, a distribution center. Each location has its own map, zones, devices, and shift schedules.

  1. From the Console sidebar, go to **Locations → Add Location**.
  2. Enter a **Site Name** (e.g., *Eastfield Warehouse — Bay 3*) and a **Street Address**. BreakPoint geocodes the address automatically and centers your site map.
  3. Set the **Site Boundary** by drawing a polygon on the map overlay. Workers inside this boundary appear on the live workforce map for this location.
  4. Upload a **Floor Plan or Site Map** (PNG or SVG, optional but recommended). This image overlays the map so supervisors can see workers in the context of your actual layout.
  5. Click **Save Location**.

  <Tip>
    Start with a single location and get it fully configured — zones, shifts, and devices — before adding additional sites. A well-configured first location gives your supervisors a reference point and makes it much faster to replicate settings when you expand.
  </Tip>

  ### Set Your Time Zone and Shift Defaults

  Accurate timestamps underpin everything in TimeKeeper and PulseGuard, so it is essential to set the correct time zone for each location before any clocks are activated.

  1. Open the location you just created and click the **Settings** tab.
  2. Under **Time Zone**, select the IANA time zone that matches the site (e.g., *America/Chicago*). This setting controls how all clock-in/clock-out times and alert timestamps are displayed and exported for this location.
  3. Under **Shift Defaults**, set your standard **Shift Start Time**, **Shift Duration**, and **Break Policy** (number of breaks, minimum break duration). These defaults apply to all workers at this location unless overridden at the individual worker or worker-group level.
  4. Set your **Overtime Threshold** — the number of hours in a day or week after which TimeKeeper should flag a worker as approaching or in overtime.
  5. Click **Save Settings**.

  ### Invite Supervisors and Team Members

  Now that your organization and first location exist, add the people who will manage day-to-day operations in the Console.

  1. From the Console sidebar, go to **Team → Invite Member**.
  2. Enter the team member's **Email Address** and select their **Role** (see role descriptions below).
  3. Optionally, assign them to one or more **Locations**. Location-scoped users only see workers, devices, and alerts for their assigned sites.
  4. Click **Send Invite**. The invitee receives an email with a link to set their password and access the Console.

  Repeat this process for each supervisor, safety manager, and HR team member who needs Console access.
</Steps>

## Role Permissions

BreakPoint has three built-in roles. Every invited user is assigned exactly one role, and you can change a user's role at any time from **Team → Manage Members**.

<Accordion title="Admin">
  Admins have full, unrestricted access to the entire organization. They can create and delete locations, manage billing, configure PulseGuard and TimeKeeper settings, invite and remove users, assign roles, pair and decommission devices, and export any report.

  Assign the Admin role to your BreakPoint account owner and any IT or operations managers who are responsible for platform configuration. Limit the number of Admins to those who genuinely need destructive-action capabilities.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Supervisor">
  Supervisors have full operational access within their assigned locations. They can view the live workforce map, acknowledge and resolve alerts, view and export attendance records, manage worker profiles, and pair devices at their site. They cannot modify billing, organization-level settings, or other locations.

  Assign the Supervisor role to shift supervisors, safety managers, and team leads who need real-time visibility and the ability to act on alerts.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Viewer">
  Viewers have read-only access to the Console for their assigned locations. They can view the live map, browse alerts (but not acknowledge them), and see attendance data, but they cannot make any changes to settings, workers, or devices.

  Assign the Viewer role to HR staff who need access to attendance records, auditors, or executives who want visibility without the ability to change configuration.
</Accordion>

## What Comes Next

With your organization created, your first location configured, and your team invited, you are ready to start pairing wearable devices to worker profiles and deploying them on site.
