# How BreakPoint Works: Wearable, Cloud, and Console

> Understand how BreakPoint's wearable device, PulseGuard, TimeKeeper, and the Console work together to protect and track your frontline team.

BreakPoint is built around a single idea: the people doing the most physically demanding, highest-risk work on your site deserve the same real-time operational visibility that office teams take for granted. To deliver that, BreakPoint combines a lightweight wearable device worn by each worker with a cloud processing layer and a supervisor-facing Console — three layers that work in continuous conversation so your team stays safe, compliant, and accountable without anyone having to lift a finger beyond their normal routine.

## How BreakPoint Fits Together

Every insight in BreakPoint starts with the lightweight wearable device clipped to a worker's badge lanyard or vest. That data is securely transmitted to BreakPoint's cloud, where it is processed against your organization's zone boundaries, equipment proximity rules, and shift schedules. The results surface instantly in the Console — the browser-based dashboard your supervisors, safety managers, and HR teams rely on throughout the day.

Think of it as a continuous loop that runs without any manual intervention:

1. **Wearable collects data**: The device continuously streams location, heart-rate, proximity, and tap events while it is being worn.
2. **BreakPoint processes and applies your rules**: Your configured zone boundaries, alert thresholds, and shift schedules are applied automatically to turn raw signals into meaningful safety and attendance events.
3. **Console surfaces what matters**: Everything — live worker locations, active safety alerts, clock-in status, and compliance scores — flows into a single dashboard your supervisors can act on immediately.

## What the Wearable Collects

The BreakPoint wearable is a purpose-built sensor platform, not a repurposed consumer device. It collects four categories of data continuously while worn:

* **Location signals**: A combination of GPS (outdoors) and Bluetooth beacons (indoors) gives the cloud layer a continuous position fix accurate to within a few meters. Location data powers the live workforce map in the Console and drives zone-entry and zone-exit events.
* **Heart rate**: An optical heart-rate sensor on the back of the device samples the worker's pulse every 30 seconds at rest and continuously during elevated-activity periods. Heart-rate data feeds directly into PulseGuard's physiological distress detection.
* **Proximity signals**: Ultra-wideband (UWB) radio measures the distance between the wearable and any BreakPoint-registered proximity anchor attached to heavy equipment. Anchors broadcast a unique equipment ID, which the cloud layer maps to your equipment registry.
* **Tap events**: A physical button and a double-tap gesture on the device body let workers clock in, clock out, and mark breaks without unlocking a phone. Tap events are timestamped in the cloud to the second and form the primary input for TimeKeeper.

## How PulseGuard Uses That Data

PulseGuard is BreakPoint's real-time safety engine. It monitors two parallel streams — proximity and physiology — and raises alerts the moment either stream crosses a threshold you configure in the Console.

When the proximity engine detects that a worker's wearable is within your defined exclusion radius of a piece of heavy equipment, it triggers an immediate alert in the Console and, optionally, a vibration pattern on the worker's device. When the heart-rate engine detects a reading that falls outside a worker's normal baseline for an extended period — indicating potential heat stress, exertion overload, or a medical event — it flags the worker on the live map and notifies the assigned supervisor. Both alert types are logged automatically for incident reporting.

## How TimeKeeper Uses That Data

TimeKeeper is BreakPoint's attendance and compliance engine. It turns tap events and location signals into a verified attendance record that your HR and payroll teams can trust.

When a worker double-taps the device at the start of their shift, TimeKeeper records a clock-in tied to their worker profile, the current timestamp, and their GPS or beacon-derived location. The same gesture closes the shift. Break events are captured the same way. TimeKeeper then compares the recorded times against the shift schedule you configure in the Console, automatically flagging late clock-ins, missed break compliance, and overtime thresholds — all without any supervisor having to watch a time clock.

## How the Console Brings It Together

The Console is the command center your supervisors open at the start of every shift. The live workforce map shows every active worker as a dot on your site layout, color-coded by safety status. The alerts panel surfaces any PulseGuard events that need acknowledgment. The attendance grid shows who is clocked in, who is late, and who is approaching overtime. Reports can be exported for payroll, safety audits, or regulatory compliance with a single click.

Everything in the Console is scoped to the locations and worker groups your organization has configured — supervisors see only the workers in their assigned sites, while admins and safety managers get an organization-wide view.
